Textures 101

Huge fan of Yifat Fishmans classes on skillshare. Highly recommend Textures 101. Digital art can sometimes come out looking a little flat, so it’s been fun playing around for a more tactile effect.

Also love Kristina Hultkrantz classes (also on skillshare) This focus was on creating a more traditional artwork digitally. More texture fun!.

Floral Muse

I always love a Lisa Bardot tutorial. Her latest one, Inspired by the Masters- Brush Play with Monet is a new favorite. While I love learning via step by step tutorials, I like the encouragement to experiment and play around with an open ended outcome.

Thank you Lisa (not that she reads this blog lol) for another great class!

Keeping with the floral, spring mood- this weeks flower bouquet was very purple-y

which inspired me to make this flower print inspired by Yifat Fishman Floral watercolor class

I’ve also been obsessed with my pocket flower press from Studio Wald for some time. Perfect for walks, trips. I pressed one of the tulips from a previous bouquet. Found some other petals from the past, (not quite sure what is going on with the pink one lol.)

Additionally turned my valentines day roses into potpourri (not the prettiest I know) but I love keeping them around the house.

One can really never get enough of flowers. I saw these cherry blossoms at the farmers market. So beautiful!

(Digital) Studio Notes

I was hoping to get some pottery studio time before the end of year but things have been busy! Meanwhile, I’m so grateful for digital illustration in all its portability and ease. Squeezing in a little session after work is such a nice way to decompress

Last month I did every day of the Making Art Everyday prompts, but this month I’m only doing select ones. Below: Walt Disney Day, National Llama Day, and Let’s Hug Day.

Thank you Lisa Bardot for all the inspiration!

Studio Notes

I mentioned my hiatus from ceramics and realized I never shared these pieces I've made in the past! They've been quietly hanging out around my home and I still have so many more not pictured. My personal favorite is the mug with the potato dressed in various costumes. He’s the Tayto Potato which I cannot get enough of lol.

Glaze Parties

Glazing used to be the part of ceramics I dreaded, but it totally grew on me. It was messy and unpredictable, but that’s what made it fun in the end.

Some pieces with underglazes below. I’ve started to love drawing on my ceramics as you can see. Pictured below are works in progress, before the final firing.

Perhaps 2025 will bring in a regular pottery practice again!!
